Whether you are looking for something new to serve to your family midweek or are having friends over the weekend, Grilled Flank Steak in a delicious savory sweet Asian marinade is sure to be a pleaser. If possible, marinade the steak overnight. Remember, Flank Steak does not need a lot of time on the grill.
What you will need:
1 - 3 lbs of Whidbey Farm & Market Flank Steak
For the marinade
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger root
4 cloves minced garlic
1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce more or less to taste
How to make the marinade
Whisk together ingredients for marinade, pour over steak in a shallow dish or zip top bag.
You may want to keep some to serve with the grilled steak or make a big extra.
Allow to marinate for several hours or overnight (the longer, the better).
How to grill the steak on a gas grill
Turn all burners on high and close the lid, allowing grill to warm up for about 5 minutes. Clean grates.
Continue flipping every 1-2 minutes, until done, about 10 minutes total cooking time.
How to grill the steak on a charcoal grill
Light charcoal, allow to burn until covered in white ash, then spread the coals in an even layer. Clean grates.

How to serve
Slice the steak into slim strips against the grain. Serve on a platter along with baked potatoes and a simple green salad.
